This latest DK Eyewitness Guide is an excellent one-stop resource for planning a vacation in Scotland. It offers a terrific combination of pictures, maps, facts and commentary, more than enough to allow the visitor to find not only the major tourist attractions but also some of the unique places and events off the beaten path that may be even more worthwhile as destinations.This Eyewitness Guide includes a nice history of Scotland, up to and including the most recent debate over devolution, as well as practical information on travel, customs, money, safety, and climate. There are some good tips on what to eat and what to get as uniquely Scottish souvenirs. The cut-away sketches and diagrams of castles and other historical sites will increase the visitor's appreciation of some wonderfully interesting venues, such as the castles at Edinburgh and Sterling. The guide even manages to work in a few tips on where to hike. This reviewer and his wife have found previous editions of this guide, supplemented by local maps and the websites listed in the guide, to be entirely adequate to plan and enjoy weeks in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. "DK Eyewitness Travel Guide: Scotland" is very highly recommended.

Didn't really add much more than was covered in the Great Britain book. I was expecting more depth in the "stand alone" Scotland book.

I bought this for my husband and he loves it. It has been very useful for planning a trip to Scotland. He found two or three things in the book that he had not known about previously including the fact that his current credit card would probably not be accepted there. Very helpful guide.

Dreaming of returning to Scotland & this book is giving us good information for planning our next trip. Even if you can't travel to Scotland in person this book will give you hours of info & pictures.

DK guides never disappoints me - thorough coverage, exceptional photographs, lively descriptions. My only criticism is that the print is a tad too tiny.

These travel books are the best. Makes it easy to plan what to see and where to go without overwhelming you with extraneous information. We use them wherever we travel to.

This book tells the story of scientist Lee Berger, and the important discovery he and his son made in 2004 with the finding of a 1.9m year old skeleton (actually more than one). The book introduces the topic of hominid research, human evolution, and how this type of science works--including dating methods relevant for fossils this age--within the context of telling the story of Lee's life: how a childhood outdoors and childhood interests led to his career and hope that he too would one day make a great discovery, his early career and disappointments, and how the discovery of Karabo finally came about. My eleven year old finished this book in a day and quite enjoyed it.

My grandsons are 8 and 10 and great readers. This books introduces the whole field of modern anthropology. The author is a leader in the field and can explain it to young readers. Challenging science topic.

As a science teacher and a fan of human origins, I was thrilled to have Lee Berger's The Skull in the Rock waiting in its Amazon box for me when I got home from school today. I read its 64 pages in a heartbeat and have to say I am very pleased with the high quality of this work. It is a tremendous challenge to find reading material about human origins that is suitable for middle school readers. This book not only does a fine job of introducing and explaining the main ideas involved in paleoanthropology, it also does a great job of presenting the PROCESS of science in an honest and exciting way for younger readers. I have no doubt that many of the boys and girls who read this will be stimulated to explore a future in science more seriously. I commend Drs Berger and Aronson on producing a rarity in scientific writing, a book that is exciting, inspiring, AND full of serious science. The science teacher in me wishes books such as this were the norm rather than the precious exception. This book is a GEM!

I read this book and took the test and passed.The books is structured really well and covers everything you need to know. There are no grammatical errors and the authors write extremely well. In general I think they do a good job of explaining the material. There are, however, a few places where there are some mistakes. They need to get an errata going and fix those asap.Here was my biggest complaint: The sample questions and mock test that they provide you on the CD is in no way shape or form representative of the level of difficulty of the questions on the real test. I finished test one from the CD in about 45 minutes to an hour and scored about 90%. On the real test I needed every moment of the 2 1/2 hours and got a much lower score. Of course I still passed.Perhaps the kaplan tests are more realistic.

The book is nice and very useful if you need some preparation for OCA test, but some of the examples are not working. It seems like some of the examples has been done for Java 7 instead of Java 8.

As good as new.

The exam mock is well organized and the explanations to the topics are very clear.

I tried so hard to like the book, I just couldn't get into it. I think so much of the text was unnecessary. Too many repetitions that you tend to lose the main point.I couldn't even get through a few pages of it without falling asleep. The Sybex one seems more well written. I'm still waiting to read other people's comments and reviews.

This is a great cookbook for someone who wants to eat healthy. I've tried two recipes so far and have quite a few more marked to try. It does have quite a few seafood recipes but I guess more people like fish than don't. There are plenty of other recipes to try.

This is my new favorite Jamie Oliver cookbook. I've only made the first three recipes (Baked Eggs in Popped Beans, Cherry Tomatoes, Ricotta on Toast; Granola Dust; and Magic Poached Eggs, Smashed Avo & Seeded Toast), but those three recipes were amazing. They were delicious, filling, and weren't nearly as time consuming to make as I thought they would be. Some of the recipes do require specialty ingredients, but they are easy enough to substitute. For example, instead of hazelnut milk for one of the recipes I'll be using almond milk, and I'll probably substitute brown rice for black rice. But it's not a big enough inconvenience to take away any stars. Can't wait to try the other recipes!

I love Jamie and have nearly all of his books. Going back to the very first cook book I ever received as a gift (Naked Chef) to present. I've cooked numerous of his seemingly endless culinary ideas and unless I f'd up myself, they ALL are at least as good as I had hoped. Even the ones I didn't like, I felt it was b/c of something I knew I personally failed on my end. I use them mostly in phases. This one not so much, great ideas, but not as inspired as his earlier efforts in my thinking, but as a healthier ideal, I am not so enthusiastic to engage full-on. I like food that's simple, tasty and healthy. I s'pose it's a matter of getting used to doing the SUPER FOOD concepts more fully, so they can become second nature, much like the other great things he's inspired in my life and joys when I am cooking for the familia.

I really enjoy this cookbook! I think the nutritional information is great. Each recipe has a complete breakdown on calories, proteins, fats, etc. It also tells you how many of your 5 day fruits and veggies you're getting. My only complaint is a personal one. I'm not a seafood eater and there are tons of fish and seafood recipes so those are lost on me, but I figure can easily be swapped with some chicken. The health information, beautiful images, Jamie's celebration of good nutritious and easy food is a winner. I look forward to cooking from this book for a long time.

Great cookbook! I wasn't sure if I still wanted a book as I go online mostly for recipes. It's a great option for inspiration and ideas I wouldn't have thought of. Most recipes are super clearly given so you can't mess up (mostly). Great theme too as it matches exactly how I've been trying to eat. Great snack and cook ahead options for the week. All round fun cookbook.

Outstanding book written by someone who is truly passionate about what he does. Beyond recipes, there is plenty of good nutritional education provided toward the end of the book. I like the size and quality of the book ad the photography is well done. Even if you don't cook but a couple items in this book, I think it provides a real inspiration on how to make healthier choices.

Beautiful cookbook with gorgeous photos of every recipe covering every meal option including snacks and drinks. This is a deep dive into incredible food inspired by the Blue Zones of the world. Blue Zones are areas where centenarians thrive as a by-product of their good health, nutrition, culture and vitality. Some of the recipes are featured in Season 1 of Jamie's Super Food series which can also be purchased through Amazon Prime Video. The recipes are fresh, simple and provide good choices for great food that you can feel good about serving.This is, hands down, my favorite cookbook since Thug Kitchen entered the cookbook scene - and I highly recommend all of their cookbooks too!

Some great recipes. But still a bit "Jamie-ish"... don't expect precise directions, though this one is much better than his others. Love the book, but be a cook when using it and don't follow blindly...

Excellent overview of how important your mouth is to your overall health. Being a specialist in gum disease, Dr. Jean-Max has a very unique perspective and explains that stopping the problem causing the disease, bacteria and inflammation, is far better than waiting for the destruction and then trying to figure out how to fix the damage.

This book was so informative for me as a person who has type 2 diabetes. It explained how my health effects my oral hygiene and how important my oral hygiene is to my health! Thank you for explaining things in a way I can a patient can understand.

Very helpful and edifying. This book describes the many demons in the spiritual realms that harass people and try to destroy people's lives. Jennifer LeClaire describes in detail many different evil spirits including python, antichrist spirits, spirit of jealousy, blueprints of betrayal, and of course Jezebel, among the many others , and gives the reader practical instruction on how to deal with these spirits and to help people be free, of course in the authority and power of Jesus and the authority that Jesus gives to His disciples! I find this book very detailed, with tons of information and gems. Its apparent that Jennifer teaches us through her many years of experience in deliverance ministry and spiritual warfare ministry. Anyone who has an interest in this area/topic would find this book incredibly beneficial. Highly recommended!

This book, like all of LeClaire's works, is chock full of solid biblical teaching combined with years of experience and insight. There is something here for everyone who desires more knowledge about spiritual warfare. But this book is about more than gaining knowledge. I believe readers have an opportunity to walk in a new level of freedom and victory as they prayerfully apply the teachings within its pages. I love how each chapter covers a new area of warfare in a clear and concise way. I highly recommend it!
