Great read and photos

The Hampton Roads area of Virginia needs a good book on the history of LBTGQ history in the tidewater area. Unfortunately, this is not it. This book raises many questions but doesn't answer them. This book has lots of good photos, but that's about it. This book raises more questions then it answers. What about the vice squad raid on the Naro movie theater? Who is Tony Prichard? Why is he important to gay activism in the Hampton Roads area beside the gay pride fest? And the tail that wags the dog in Hampton Roads, the military presence that influences gay activism? Nothing about the military and only one sentence on Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Hopefully, someone will do a real book someday on this subject, because this book is not it.

The narration was heavy with facts and details, but not overwhelming. I found it an interesting read and got a real look into the various people who lived and traveled back then.

Life Along the Silk Road was an overall good book. When first seeing the book it looks really lengthy and boring but it really surprised me how interesting it actually was. In each perspective as readers we see many changes in religion and culture that expanded in the time period. The author Susan Whitfield presents her purpose clearly. This purpose being to provide perspective to the lives of travelers on the Silk Road and their journeys. This purpose is shown in almost every section of the book making the purpose clear and concise. In ways it was hard to understand why she wrote this at first but as each story developed it became clearer and clearer on what she was trying to get across. In conclusion i was impressed with the layout and overall purpose of this book.

I have to be honest, this book really suffered from what I wanted it to be, and my preconceived notions. One of my favorite myths, I had very high hopes, and expectations of tone and content.That said, once I got over the way the self-consciously modern language pricked my pretense, there is a lot of good here, and the author is commended for the risks they took. It is a fine book, and I liked some of the ways they tied together and developed loose ends of the myths.One criticism would be that the author’s note at the end would have served us better at the beginning. A discussion of the poetic forms used would have made this work much more accessible to the casual reader, as I was lost for much of the book, trying to make heads or tails of the patterns that, once I knew them, seemed obvious.

After borrowing this book from the library, I had to purchase my own copy. I absolutely loved this retelling! Wonderfully done, with so much thought put into everything, even the word spacing. I laughed so hard at some parts, and was shocked at the language in others (parents probably want to read this before purchasing for a juvenile or teen). Many times it felt appropriate given what the story is about, I just want parents to be aware of the adult topics and profanity if they are unfamiliar with the original story, as this lays it out in all it's scandalous (hilarious) detail.

I found this book while searching for a young adult novel based on Greek myth and boy, am I happy that I did. I'll be writing a compare and contrast essay on the actual myth and this book for my college Mythology class and really can't wait to begin. Elliott stays so closely aligned with the facts of the original myth while giving the reader an insight into the relationships of the characters involved, creating a much more emotional and captivating retelling of the story of Theseus and the Minotaur. I flew through this novel, aided by the spectacular flow of the verse and form of each character. I am impressed that Elliott let his characters decide which forms or poetry he used according to their temperament and intent. This is a fantastic quick read and so much fun. I caught myself giggling out loud on more than one occasion.

This is a quick read retelling the story of the Minotaur from Greek myth. It is written in poetic form with each character's voice in a different poetic style.That aside this is a fun read. The main observer (aka the one who gets the ball rolling then leans back to watch) is Poseidon who is absolutely entertaining to read. His parts are hilarious.The other points of view are the main players in the story. Their voices are distinctive and well written. I already knew the story but as it unfolded, I still felt the tension of wanting to know what would happen next.If this sounds interesting I highly recommend giving it a read.

This permutation of the story of the Minataur is pure delight. I love Elliott's take on the story & the personalities he imbues to the players. Verse novel of the Minotaur story. It’s got all the characters and an interesting take on ancient Greek relationships with their Gods. I enjoyed the book, it was a super fast read, and I felt got the entire of “what in the world is going on” feel pretty right.

Elliott innovatively allows for the reader to have a newfound empathy for each of the characters, especially the popularly disliked character of the Minotaur. Using the poetic form, intermittent comic relief, and a delightful understanding of human nature, Elliott brings to life the story in ways that give you a view into each of the character’s personalities. I would recommend it as a teaching tool, or if you just want something smart and playful to read one evening.

Fun! This has some bad behavior in it and bad language, but is a wonderful retelling of the Minotaur and the labyrinth under Crete. So much fun. Buy this and read this only if you don't mind the bad behavior inherent in Greek Mythology.

It was the book I needed for my class, but the material is so dry it is incredible. I definitely learned quite a few useful tricks though.

Really learned a lot from this during my college course, I'd recommend it to anyone that wants to learn on their own at home if you've got the cash to buy it but renting worked fine for me.

This ebook, when I purchased the E-rental for this book it was missing the pages for the Microsoft Module (AC21 - AC193). I had to rent a second book for MS Access to finish my class. Very frustrating.

Very detailed explanations. I have had no trouble do the lessons on my own as I'm completing an online class this semester. This is a book that I will keep when I'm done with this class. Highly recommend for those wanting to learn more about Microsoft Office applications.

This is the bible for golfers who want to learn to have a better mindset when playing and practicing the game. If you find yourself getting worked up during a round of golf, or feel like your game is stagnating, this book can help get your mind right. Well-written and straightforward I recommend this book to anyone who takes the game seriously (maybe too seriously). I learned that the way to improving my game was not in perfecting the golf swing but in improving my thinking and emotions on the course.

Bought this for my 14 year old to help him tackle the mental side of the game. He's enjoying the read and says he's got some good stuff out of it. My understanding is that is is written petty plainly and directly with many annectdotes and examples from famous golfers. He's not a big reader, but this seems to be one for him.

The pro at my course recommended this book to me. A nice reminder that the game of golf will always win and we can have a good game but it won't be perfect. Some of the chapters were better than others at soothing me after a not so good game. The best chapter, in my opinion, was the about how to practice.

As a 21 handicap the weakest point of my game has always been mental. My practice sessions were focused on long irons/driver, and to a smaller degree putting, with a little short game thrown in. I analyzed and tweaked my game during the round based on what the previous shot did, and couldn't help but get *upset* when the inevitable triple bogeys came along.I now rarely get upset over a bad shot, never practice putting, never practice long irons, haven't changed anything about my swing/grip, and am playing the best golf of my life. I love his simple mental approach when you're playing a round.I restrict any analysis/tweaking of my game now strictly to the driving range.

Book is perfect. I will read this book many times because it hits a chord in golf, life and overall thoughts. I really enjoyed the stories and the advice. I hated to read the last page but am eager to read it again for some reason. My son is a soccer player and we discuss routines in his sport, training techniques and balance. I have read him sections and we talk about them back and forth and we end with something we are doing or going to do, which brings a smile as we drift off into our own thoughts.

Using positive visualization to set your mind right to put you in the position to succeed. Practice with a purpose. Don’t just pound balls. Focus on speed on greens hitting to collars and making chips and putts when you practice. Doesn’t matter how easy or short the chip or putt is. Just make them.Then later focus on your 135 and In wedge game. Hit different types of shots. Make those priorities. Then practice the long clubs that are the ones that absolutely give you supreme confidence that you will execute the best shot in play. Most time should be spent on putting chipping and wedge play.

I've taken golf lessons for years, but haven't been able to break through. I bought this book this winter hoping to see if I could develop a new approach to the game. I was so impressed with the book that I've read two other Dr. Rotella books since. I also recommended it to a golfing buddy.With the extended spring, I haven't been able to see if there are any effects. But I certainly am taking a much different approach as I head into this spring.

Very interesting. I found myself applying the theories not only to me, but also my playing partners. I will be reading this book a second and even a third time to improve my attitude towards the game of golf.
